MOSKWA-PIETUSZKI [Moscow-Petushki]- theatre piece by Kana Theatre.
Theatrical vision of Venedict Yerofeyev's narrative poem.
Monodrama by Jacek Zawadzki.
Adaptation, stage design and directing: Zygmunt Duczyński
One of the most important theatre pieces directed by founder of Kana Theatre, late Zygmunt Duczyński. For over 20 years it has been presented both in Polish and English languageson many significant stages and festivals throughout Poland, as well as in Moscow, Berlin, Amsterdam, London, Edinborough, Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, San Francisco, gaining enthousiastic reviews and reception.
"We did not see the protagonist, Yerofeyev himself, as a drunkard from a ditch, but a writer-erudite who has knowledge of literature and philosophy. Following this concept - and it was clear to us - politics and alcohol became the completion of a metaphysical journey towards light and love, and the traveller is an aristocrat of the soul. It is a deeply sensitive man, compassionate, and, at the same time, one who attentively observes everything and is witty. Travelling by train, which is a symbol of Christ's Passion, became a journey through the stations of life - from birth to death"
[J. Zawadzki on working on the spectacle]
