UBU KRÓL [Ubu Roi]
"The agressive directness of this text seduced us, this geographical "nowhere" in the title, placed somewhere between a fiesta and a dumpster. Our paper protagonists ramble in the labirynth of greed, violence, vulgarity, they main desire being the absolute and unaccountable power that allows to wipe out every one standing in the way to barbarous fulfillment.Through examining dark side of the human nature, emphasising those social mechanisms and traits of ours that we'd rather omit, this grotesque makes it extremely difficult to keep perceiving the human as the crown of creation."
Karawana Theater was founded in 2009 in Jelenia Góra. The group is made up of people from various walks of life - a construction worker, a driver, an office clerk, a chef, a student, a shop attendant and a tailor. There's the same number of opposite opinions, tastes and beliefs. The group was created to support people suffering from addictions and healing from it. The artistic activity was meant to reinforce therapeutical process, enabling addicted persons to overcome social exclusion and marginalisation. "Ubu Roi" is their second production.
