"An idea of singing Requiem is very old - Russian literature has been always present in my spiritual life, inspiring creative work of the Theatre and myself. I had also a sense of community of fate through the experience of life - in the same totalitarianism, through participation in a similar suffering. Moreover, Akhmatova is fascinating woman to me, an unusual personality, a poet the personal experience of whom resulted in the artwork of deeply humanistic, universal dimension".

The Project "Outsiders. Evoking the Presence - Alternative Theatre Lesson".
A group improvisation is a creative method developed by Teatr Osmego Dnia. It is a process of creation of performances from the foundations - a kind of "writing on the stage", with the original element of actors' improvisation on a subject formulated before. It should be said, that "writing on the stage" is an act of making the theatre related to the contemporary reality, the world where the actors who are creating it really live. Thus improvisation is a kind of actors' commentary, a dialogue, a dispute on this world, an experience and transformation of experience, a confession and a protest.

"Piołun" is in the first place an expression of human longings for other worlds and people - an attempt to find and save hope and breeze which can take a human on the path to the unusual, the unknown, the unnamed. "Piołun" is a challenge, is an attempt to overcome the world where we are supposed to live; it is a human struggle with fate and with a creative act.

"ŁASZTOWNIA 2008. Four pictures in the space"
A movie documentation show of the Project.
A "site specific" project has been realized by the Kana Theatre in cooperation with invited artists from a various fields of art. It took place in September and October 2008 in the old municipal slaughterhouse on the Lasztownia Island (nowadays a location of the Gryf Fishing Port).

MANDELSTAM STREET - Ryszard Leoszewski concert.
The songs to the lyrics of Osip Mandelstam were written in 1982 for the performance "A Book of Life, Works and Death of Osip Mandelstam" directed by Zygmunt Duczynski. At that time those songs were to tell about pain connected with a human fate confronted with extreme experiences. Today, returning to the old paths of artistic inspirations, Leoszewski is seeking in Mandelstam's poems the bright side of human soul rather than suffering (yet it's hard to avoid it).
